Nashira's Biography

When I was a young teen, my best friend and I each bought a deck of Tarot cards. I picked out the traditional Waite/Rider deck, as well as a simple book on interpretation. The first night with the cards, I sat on my bed and shuffled the deck time and time again, getting a feel for the cards, and occasionally spreading them out to see the images and symbols contained therein. As I shuffled, I noticed the same card kept appearing at the bottom of the deck- The Magician. Once I observed this, I deliberately tried to shuffle in ways that would certainly fold that card into the deck, even spreading the cards out on my bed, mussing them around, and re-stacking them. Each time, as I flipped the deck over, The Magician stared back at me. It was at this moment that I knew that Tarot cards would always be part of my life. The Magician, it seemed clear, was also my personal power card. It didn't entirely surprise me that I should feel so comfortable so quickly with the cards- I come from a line of women who tend towards psychic/metaphysical abilities, and it appeared I had found my niche!

As I progressed, devouring several great books on cards and reading, including Rachel Pollack's Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom: A Book of Tarot (which was my most profound influence), I went through various stages of reading. Early on, I did standard layouts (Celtic Cross, Past/Present/Future, the Five Card spread, various three card spreads), using the entire deck. But going forward, I realized that I felt a far greater affinity for the Major Arcana, and the wealth of symbolic guidance contained therein, and began reading only the Majors. Not long after, I quit using a "querent card" and instead asked the questioner to provide me with something meaningful to them- a piece of jewelry, a picture, car keys, whatever held personal resonance for that person. With each of these changes, my readings became more effortless and far, far more accurate.

Finally, I began to feel stifled by the strict guidelines of the various standard layouts, and branched out into larger and more creative versions. The first time I did a reading using an entirely instinctive layout, which I was than able to read as part of the interpretation, I felt I had achieved a great success! Now when I lay out the cards, the layout itself becomes part of the reading, indicating where the potential issues and trouble areas might be. I was also very pleased to discover, in time, that I did not even need a querent object, or even a physical querent present. The first time I performed a reading over distance (the sample reading you see on the Example page), I felt a huge rush- now I could expand my readings to people across the Internet!

I currently use the Cat People Tarot deck, because I adore cats and find the art of these cards lovely and compelling. I still have my original deck, and occasionally read it, as well. I have a small collection of other decks that I don't use for reading, including two rarities- a signed and numbered limited edition mini-deck of the Major Arcana using cats, as drawn by an Italian artist, and the original (unauthorized) Hello Kitty tarot, which I don't believe is available any more. I'm always on the lookout for an interesting or unique deck...

I have been reading Tarot cards for over 30 years, and I definitely feel that, like a fine wine, I have improved in complexity and "flavor". Feedback from friends and customers prove this out... and I would love to receive further feedback from my new clients in this virtual realm. I hope you will give my readings a try, and let me facilitate a higher level of understanding of your life and its complexities!

On a more personal note, I live in a small town in Northern California, and am a native to the state. I adore animals, and have quite a variety of them, including my darling Miss B, pictured below. I have a wonderful child, exceptional family and friends, and was lucky enough to reconnect with the love of my life, who makes every day an adventure.
